Momoyama to early Edo Period, 17th century
Provenance:
The Stanley Knight Collection, Meaford, Ontario, Canada
The Suji-Bachi kabuto of sixty-two plates, four-stage tehan kanemono, downturned mabizashi embossed with stylised eyebrows, and four lame kebiki-laced kozane shikoro (neck protection) with small fukigaeshi.
The large double tsunomoto and the hineno shikoro with narrow plates with small fukigaeshi suggest an early dating for this samurai helmet, between Momoyama and Edo period.
