Signed Rengetsu at the end of the poem and sealed “Issō”
17.7 by 18.3 by 3.1 cm
The poem on this rare square dish reads:
あすもきて
みんとおもへば
家づとに
手折もをしき
山ざくら花
Imagining coming tomorrow
to see them again...
such a shame (even as a souvenir)
to snap a single branch
of these mountain cherry blossoms.
(Translation Rengetsu Project)
Due to the high demand for her works, Rengetsu collaborated with skilled potters who could emulate her style, including Kuroda Koryo and Issō.
