Wooden netsuke of two coiled rats

Wooden netsuke of two coiled rats

by Sadakazu, Nagoya school

Meji period (1868 - 1912)

Wooden netsuke, eyes inlaid in dark horn
Signed: Sadakazuto / Teichito

Height: 4,7 cm

This netsuke represents two rats clinging to each other to form an almost spherical composition.
The two rodents are finely made: the hair is represented in a very realistic way and the vivid eyes inlaid in horn and transparencies, give almost the feeling that animals are animated.

Sadakazu is a late carver of Nagoya school
