Signed: Shōryusai
One side with a cherry tree while the other one with a maple tree; both with a waterfall in the background. The two trees are an evident allusion to Spring and Autumn.
The ground is in togidashi maki–e, typical technique for this artist, while trees and flowers are in hiramaki-e. The inro comes with a box-shaped netsuke (hako–netsuke) decorated with a maple tree branch.
