The Japanese were fascinated by the complete bone structure of a human, this theme can be found in many mediums of Japanese art, inlays of dancing skeletons are found on Inro and Suzuribako, woodblock prints and ceramics. Here the departed has been arranged in the burial position, forming a very functional netsuke. Signed on the pelvis.
